US Vice President Mike Pence’s wife, Karen Pence, has just started working at a school that bans LGBTI student and teachers.

Pence began working as a teacher this week at the Immanuel Christian School in Northern Virginia. Pence previously taught at the school for 12 years while her husband was a Congressman.

The couple’s daughter, Charlotte, also attended the school.

Parents of students wanting to enrol in the school must sign an agreement that they don’t participate in or condone ‘homosexual or bi-sexual activities’.

Parents must ’embrace biblical family values such as a healthy marriage between one man and one woman’.

Prospective teachers must also sign a contract acknowledge the  ‘unique roles of male and female’. Teachers must also promise not to partake in ‘homosexual behavior, lesbian sexual activity and transgender identity’.

A spokesperson for Pence, Kara Brooks, deflected criticism of the Second Lady’s employment at a school that discriminates against LGBTI people.

‘It’s absurd that her decision to teach art to children at a Christian school, and the school’s religious beliefs, are under attack,’ Brooks told the Huffington Post.

It is not the first time Pence has aligned herself with an anti-gay institution or person.

In October last year, she spoke at an election rally for North Carolina congressional candidate, Mark Harris.

Harris wanted to outlaw gay sex.

‘He’s the kind of strong, principled conservative leader who will stand with this administration to deliver results. He’s a husband, a father, a pastor, a leader. He has devoted his life to service to others… a devoted servant of God,’ Pence said at the rally.
